Los Canos de Meca is a small coastal town in the Cadiz Province, on the Costa de la Luz of Andalusia, Spain. It has a kind of sixties feel to it; it's full of hippies and surfers. In winter it's deserted but in summer it becomes very busy.

Surfers, windsurfers and beach lovers come from all over Spain and Europe to enjoy the climate, wind and waves. The landscape here is rugged, windswept and still completely unspoilt. It's stunning. There are beautiful beaches such as that of Zahora, dramatic cliffs and lush pine trees all around this area.

Los Canos is well known as a famous windsurfing spot. During the winter months the conditions are perfect for bodyboarding and surfing. Snorkeling, scuba-diving and fishing are also quite popular here. There is plenty of life to see, a wide variety: crabs, squid, cuttlefish, jellyfish and moray eels (ouch!).

There is a huge lighthouse at the tip of the Cabo de Trafalgar. It is supposedly the last one Admiral Nelson saw before he died in the famous Battle of Trafalgar.

Although still a small off-the-beaten-track location, Los Canos is quickly developing a reputation as a trendy summer hot spot. A laid back mixture of hippie and surf culture, similar to that you'd find in Tarifa, further down the coast. Good vibes, big waves, strong winds and some amazing scenery, Los Caños has something for everyone.

To get here, take the small road off the N340 main coastal road just after Vejer de la Frontera.
