All these beaches stand out for their location by the cliff line Los Castillejos, where a visit to the waterfalls should not be messed. These waterfalls of sweet water descent from various heights and have their origine in the National park of Las Breñas, which unites barbate with Caños de Meca. You’ll find the nudist beach right at the bottom of the cliffs. It’s a sandy beach populated mainly by nudists and illegal campers. It stretches eastwards all the way to the cliffs.
If you wish to go walking past the cliffs, it’s advisable to wear some kind of footwear, and going while the tide is low. Otherwise it’s quite easy to cut yourself or stumble on the rocks.
Do the walk if you can - it’s definitely worth it. The landscape is stunning; the cliffs are imposingly high and the light often hits the rocks at strange angles, producing an almost surreal effect; a strange mixture of shapes and colours.
You'll see the huge fallen rocks. These giants have transformed the landscape and are responsible for some of the fantastic cave formations. |
